To ensure that the Discovery Data Service is up to date, and to maintain the data flow, we rely on locality leads to update us with any changes to the services within their locality that publish data into the Discovery Data Service.

Please send updated service information to datasupport@endeavourhealth.org and update the Data Processing Agreements, Data Sharing Agreements and any relevant projects in Data Sharing Manager to reflect the service change.

Supplier migration

If the service is migrating to a new supplier, so that we can place an order with your new supplier, please provide the following information:

  • ODS code
  • Service name
  • Current supplier and reference number
  • New supplier and reference number
  • Migration date
  • Service contact

Note: Data will still be received into the Discovery Data Service until the service migrates to the new supplier.

Service merger

If a service is merging with another service, please provide the following information:

  • Supplier ODS code
  • Service name
  • Reference number
  • Information on the merger service
  • Commencement date.

If the service that the service is merging with is already publishing data into the Discovery Data Service, we will receive the additional data from that service. If the merger service is not publishing data into the Discovery Data Service, but want to do so, a new order needs to be placed with the supplier. Please contact us for more information.

Service closure

If a service is closing, please provide the following information:

  • Supplier ODS code
  • Service name and reference number
  • Service closure date.

The service, as a data controller, needs to inform us if they want existing data held in the Discovery Data Service, including subscriber databases, to be destroyed. We will destroy any data in the system and provide a certificate of destruction to the service contact.

If the data remains in the Discovery Data Service, it will also remain on existing subscriber databases and used in existing subscriber projects, but will not be included on any new subscriber databases or projects from the date of closure.

If a practice closes and the patients move to a new practice that publishes data into the Discovery Data Service, patient data will be received from their new practice.

Service opt out

If a service no longer wants to publish data into the Discovery Data Service, please provide the following information:

  • Supplier ODS code
  • Service name and reference number
  • Service opt out date
  • Reason for opting out
  • Service contact.

The service, as a data controller, needs to inform us if they want existing data held in the Discovery Data Service to be destroyed, and any subscriber access to the data to be revoked. We will destroy any data we have from our system and provide a certificate of destruction to the service contact. Depending on the system supplier, the service may need to perform some actions on their IT system. Please speak to your system supplier for more information.
